So how much will it cost I hear you ask? The first thing to say is that it is not cheap. Underfloor heating is best installed in houses with an excellent level of insulation. In most cases, therefore, it is best to install underfloor heating on new builds. That means the insulation can be installed to a high degree from the start.
It is more costly to retro fit underfloor heating because there will generally be more work needed. So our cost guidelines below are based on new build installation and retro fitting by taking out old systems and then fitting underfloor heating.
There is also the difference between electric underfloor heating and wet underfloor heating. Wet installation costs are always higher due to the large amount of pipework needed. Labour costs are therefore higher too in wet installations.
